We'd love to hear from you!

You’re allowed to take a time off

Are you someone who loves to plan things out or are you a spontaneous type of person?

Let me share with you something that I did over the weekend.

I went on a getaway, a spontaneous trip. I didn’t bother booking for accommodation until the last minute, no itinerary (which was crazy), and nothing specifically planned. If you personally know me, I’m someone who’s not a fan of doing spontaneous stuff, especially a trip that involves a long drive and a few days out of my house. It makes me feel anxious in a way that I’m not in control of what is going to happen.

In the past decade, my role in the family is to plan out trips and events. From booking accommodations and itineraries, ordering food, basically making our schedules work, and so on. And this was not just applied in my personal life but also to my clients. I like organizing things, and it works for them, it works for me to see things in order, plus it saves time (overthinking) of the possible scenarios and what-have-you.

Given that background story, it was a different experience going through something spontaneous. All I had in mind was the date when I’m supposed to go home, the rest was full-blast spontaneous.  And you know what, everything worked out fine.

I did a little bit of hiking, strolling, shopping, food tripping, (a lot of) driving and photo shoot, and quiet time to relax. I took time off work and I enjoyed every moment of it. Sharing with you some of the photos so you see what I mean.

This trip made me realize that there are some things in life that we don’t really need a plan for. That life can happen spontaneously too. And it will still work out just fine.

I’m not saying that we have to do this all the time, because that is living recklessly, and we don’t want that. I believe that we must always thrive to live intentionally. It doesn’t mean that we can’t let our hair down from time to time.  It’s simply put as; we can get a breather while still living on purpose.

Starting this business, meeting and working with different clients, and managing our Virtual Gems, changed a lot in me on how to see things. I realized that there are so many good people in the world trying to make a difference. Be it with what their companies stand for, offer or values, there’s a lot to learn and a lot to share.

I am always grateful to have met these people along the way on this journey. And I am glad that I am sharing my fair share of wisdom with them as well. We all have our own way of making this world a better place and intentionally starting that in our everyday interactions with the people we work with and meet.

Being present in your business is extremely vital. You are an integral part of the process to make things happen. And it must be exhausting on your part sometimes, right? I get you, because like you I feel the same way.

Now that I took this trip, it made an impact that “It’s okay to take a time off.” Because rest is part of the process to success. So allow yourself to take a breather, and go for a planned trip if a spontaneous one is too daunting for you. It’s okay. It will not hinder you from being successful. Everything is going to be alright.

Hope you get to do this one of these days. Let me know how it went. Or if you have already had a similar experience, I would like to hear from you too.

Thanks for reading and see you in the next blog.
